Hi fellow matchstick rocket scientists, My name is Tom Matley,I am a student of the University of Canberra Australia. When I first saw your web site I was hooked.Unfortunately in Australia paper matches are amazingly hard to come by.The only types of matches readily available are "red head"safety matches. After numerous unsecessful attempts the only solution was to have a new design. The result was a radically advanced prototype that uses double the propellant. This design uses two wooden safety matches and one strip of alumimium foil measuring 1 inch by five inches. The construction is as follows.1 take two "read head" safety matches and place them head to head.2 Now place the two head-to-head in the middle and at one end of the foil.3 take foil and matches and wrap the foil tightly around the matches.4 When the foil has been securely wrapped around the matches sometimes it is ready to use.Below is a some text work that will attemp to explain futher. #1 ============****=========== matches head to head _________foil #2 ===========****=========== --------- Foil wrapped around match heads Thats it!,Its just that simple. To launch ignite as you would any other match rocket. Trouble Shooting!-When the rocket launches a bang should be heard and the foil should be left on the match on the launcher. If tou have problems with launching try "Blu-tack"-this is Australian is you cant get this chewing gum works. -1 if the rocket blows out use more aluminium -2 if the rocket "fizzles" try twisting the matches in opposite directions to get a better seal. The performance of this design is amazing. The performance rivals with any other match rocket design!Keep up the good work, the web site is awesome!I hope this design enhances you matchstick rocketry!Feel free to write back and tell me what you think.Unfortunately I only hace access to the following e-mail adress hmatley@opennet.net.au Best Wishes Tom Matley
